Nina Simone....320 Kbps

Here is Nina at her singing best and includes a couple of tracks of her on the piano proving just how good a pianist she was....This compilation by "Polydor" includes some of her great tracks...When I first bought this L/P I thought maybe it was some re-recordings that she had made at some time in her career but no they seem to be the original "Bethlehem" recordings....Just checked on "Google" and it seems that it is the first L/P that Nina did for "Bethlehem Records"just re-released with one track missing by "Polydor"....So enjoy a great unique voice !

1. Mood Indigo
2. Don't Smoke In Bed
3. Love Me Or Leave Me
4. He Needs Me
5. My Baby Just Cares For Me
6. Little Girl Blue

1. Central Park Blues
2. I Loves You Porgy
3. Good Bait
4. Plain Gold Ring
5. My Baby Just Cares for Me

  1. Great LP this. There was a great doc on BBC4 a few weeks back about Pet Clark and JT was on it quite a bit.

"Baby, Are You Puttin' Me On?" has always been my fave track by her.

  2. A friend of mine, may he rest in peace, was a cab driver in San Francisco who was unfortunate enough to pick Nina Simone up in his cab. She wanted to go to a town that was 1 hour and a half from the city and he told her what the fare was, $224.00. I also drove cab at the time and can confirm the fare. Nina told my friend no problem. He took her to Stockton as agreed. She led him to a beauty salon and said she was going to run in and get the money. My friend knew that she had just "beat" him for the fare but went inside anyway where the proprietor pointed to the back door that exited into a back parking lot which was completely empty of Nina Simone.

My friend was going to pursue it legally but he was "beat" on another fare after picking up someone in the projects that had him drive to Richmond, a $75 ride. That passenger shot him in the face for his troubles.

  3. Hi!

Thanx for this one. LUV Nina. Yes, this appears to be a re-issue of the original '59 Bethlehem LP (have it on cassette as taped the LP that was borrowed from a Public Library) just tracks are in different order too.

    Cheers!
    Ciao! For now.
