Tom Jones.

1966 time !!....Tom Jones at the beginning of his singing career...Sooooooooo let's have him do some standards !!...That seemed to be the norm for most of the popular singer's just starting out in the 60's !!!!....and Surprise ! Surprise ! most of them did a good job with them !!! Including this L/P !!....It shows the potential that Tom had !! and it is proven to this time 2023 !!! 57 years later !!!

    Thanks for this early Tom Jones - he showed great promise but it was all dashed by Hollywood and the star system. However, he had a marvellous resurgence in 2010 when he finally was able to release an album containing performances which revealed his true talent and voice. That album was "Praise and Blame" and was indeed a revelation. Since then he has released a further three albums all of which have given us truly remarkable performances: these are "Spirit In The Room", "Long Lost Suitcase" and in 2021 probably his masterpiece and maybe his valedictory set "Surrounded By Time" an album where he confronts the ageing process and his mortality. So, a career which started off well, but lapsed into mediocrity from which there was a late flowering. Let us hope he can give us some more of his post-2010 voice. Forget all the 'Delilah' etc, nonsense, he deserves a better reputation. Regards to you and thanks for "From The Heart".
