Now here we have a great singer that was very underestimated in her day...she has two claims to fame first one being that she has made hundreds of hit records as one of the best "Session Singers" since she started singing...she has sung with everybody and if you go onto "Wikipedia"and have a look it will surprise you !!.....The other claim to fame is the best one she is of course the Mother of "Whitney Houston"!!!....so you can now see where "Whitney" gets her voice from !!....This L/P stands out and she should have definitely made more....So if you want to hear a great voice have a listen !!....Her recording of "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself" Equals the version of "Dusty's.....That how good she is !!!

If you are like me and like to hear different interpretations of standard songs then this might be the one for you to have a listen too... every track is so far from the original that you could be listening to a different song...The whole L/P has a Hill-Billy/Western slight feel to it but it is very cool...just imagine "Lady Of Spain" done as "Rock & Roll" and you might get some idea !!

P.S. This is a great L/P and well worth a download...you won't hear the like of this again.....Unless "Ray" decides  after 37 years to do a follow up L/P of popular songs done in  his way !!....just been on YouTube to see if there was any "Vids" of any of the tracks but there wasn't anything...BUT thought that the one below is worth a "Giggle" at !!!!!!

side...but like "Marmite" you will either love it or hate it...This is the kind of music that you should listen to beside a big log fire if you are lucky to have one...if not crank the central heating up and lounge on the settee/couch or whatever you like to call it and chill out...you have to listen to every track no getting up for a tea or coffee just wallow in the sound....If the track "The Riddle Song" sounds familiar it's been re-incarnated as "The Twelve Of Never"....Go on get that coffee and have a listen......P.S....Its still a great record so if you havn't given it a go you will miss out on something special !!!

Another great L/P from Johnny recorded early 70's.....I think that as he got older his voice and vocal style became more suited to the up tempo songs.....haven't heard him live for quite some time so I don't know if his voice has changed...will have to go onto "YouTube" and see what there is there...in the meantime have a listen its a good one !!
I think the reason its a good one is the choices of songs are good and the arrangements are first class...and he puts his own interpretations  on the songs in the "Mathis" Style.... not copying the originals which is great !!

It seems incredible that Louis was nearly 60 (59) to be presise !....when he recorded this L/P....and it has his voice "Matured" so it say's on the back sleeve....but I would have thought that there would have been some difference in his younger vocals being as his voice is so unique and with that great trumpet playing...but no its as fresh as when he first started in 1917 !!....but perhaps not so wild !!....A very nice selection of standard songs sung as only Louis can !!!

The first side of this L/P is the up tempo tracks and the second side is the ballad side...excellent album from Dusty when she made this L/P she was well and truly established as one of Englands finest singers !!...her version of "This Girls In Love With You" is second to none !!..and she even has a cool "Swinging Track " as well...

P.S. The back side of the L/P as you can see is one hell of an "Orange" Zest !!....so I have scanned Dusty's comments in Black & White....it does make better reading you don't have to strain your eyes !!
