1969 is the year that this L/P by Shirley was recorded her voice was still at it's peak so every track is a good one...saying that I don't mean that her voice now has deteriorated in any way she can to this day still belt them out !!! Love the re-working of her 50's hit "As I Love You" 1. Does Anybody Miss Me 2. I'll Never Fall In love Again 3. Never Never No 4. Picture Puzzle 5. I Only Miss Him 6. As I Love You 1. Think of Me 2. My Way Of Life 3. We 4. Give Me You 5. Its Alway's 4 am 6. Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me
Here's a Compilation of Peggy's from 1957 to 1968....most of her
popular hits are on this one with a re-recording of her first hit "Why
Don't You Do Right"!!
1. The Alley Cat Song 2. I'll Only Miss Him When I Think Of Him 3. Fever 4. The Shadow Of Your Smile 5. Big Spender 6. Manana 7. A Lot Of Livin' To Do 8. I'm A Woman 1. Call Me 2. Pass Me By 3. Yes Indeed 4. The Folks Who Live On The Hill 5. Till There Was You 6. Alright Okay You Win 7. Don't Smoke In Bed 8. Why Don't You Do Right
A combination of Swing band and Brass band gels pretty well but the emphasis is definitely on "Swing" with the marching sound taking a second place !!...But its a good different sound and these days its great to hear something new !!
Its over 50 years since this L/P was made and it only seems like yesterday that "Tom Jones" raced up the chats with "Its Not Unusual"....I think that when this was recorded he had the title hit and his style was not fully developed into what we now know....So because the "Green Green Grass Of Home" was CW influenced away he went down that road....And he makes a very good job of all the tracks and you can defiantly hear the "Tom Jones" of today !!...with "Mohair Sam & Detroit City" !!
1. Riders In The Sky 2. He'll have To Go 3. Funny Familiar Forgotten Feelings 4. Sixteen Tons 5. Two Brothers 6. My Mothers Eyes 7. Green Green Grass Of Home
1. Ring Of Fire 2. Field Of Yellow Daisies 3. Wish I Could Say No To You 4. All I Get From You Is Heartaches 5. Mohair Sam 6. Cool Water 7. Detroit City
Back to the jolly old "Joanna"!!....This Peter Nero L/P is entirely different from the one that I posted earlier...Its a real 70's style music which I suppose is not surprising being that most of the tunes where written in the 70's !!....and he has changed his appearance check the sleeve of the one posted earlier....I suppose that 10+years will and does make a difference !!...the last track "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" is the best one !! 1. Say has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose 2. You Are The Sunshine Of My Life 3. Daydream 4. Will It Go Round In Circles 5. The Morning After 1. Loves Me Like A Rock 2. Yesterday Once More 3. Woman Of The World 4. A Million To One 5. Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy/Two O'Clock Jump
Anybody who watches TV and drinks "Pepsi- Cola" or was it ("Coca Cola").. in England.....will recognise track 1 on Side 2..... "Etta" sings the definitive version of "At Last" and the other tracks are pure magic!!!
I guess that there would be some swing music amongst this little lot of borrowed L/P's and I am not disappointed with the original Glenn Miller...RCA has done a brilliant job of Enhancing for Stereo !! usually when they do that it tends to leave a slight echo and it doesn't sound right but not with this one !!!
Another set of original songs half of which were written by Kiki...Standout track is "Standing Room Only"
1. How Much Fun 2. Sweet Creation 3. Into Eternity 4. Standing Room Only 5. Bad Day Child 6. Chicago 1. Night Hours 2. Keep Right On 3. In Return 4. Walking 5. First Thing In The Morning
Another compilation L/P from "Polydor" "Best Of" series.....Think of "Ray Conniff" & "Bert Kaempfert" with a dash of "James Last" and you have the sound of "Kai Warner" !!....which is ok by me its a good sound !!....so overall a good set of tunes !!!
1. So In Love 2. Melody Fair 3. Yester Me Yester You Yesterday 4. There's A Kind Of Hush 5. Dancing on The Shore 6. What a Wonderful World 1. My Cherie Amour 2. A Man Without Love 3. My Heart Belongs To Daddy 4. Somethin' Stupid 5. Silence Is Golden 6. The Conquest Of The Moon
Not had a piano music for a while so away we go on the keys !!
Eugen Cicero (born Eugen Ciceu; 27 June 1940 – 5 December 1997), nicknamed "Mister Golden Hands", was a Romanian-German jazz pianist who performed in the mixed classical-swing style.
Although he graduated from the National Conservatory in Bucharest, he abandoned a career as a conventional concert pianist and established his style between classical and jazz piano, introducing swing harmonies into baroque, classical and romantic compositions, often as spontaneous improvisations.
