 There's not much you can say about BS that hasn't been said a thousand times before so I won't say it !!.....except that she has now in 1978 got complete control of her voice !! An interesting thing to do is make a "playlist" of her first L/P "The Barbra Streisand Album" with this one starting with "Track 1" from TBSA "Track 2" from this one and so on and listen to the difference its a really cool "playlist".......Most of the songs on this one are not well known except for a couple but that really doesn't matter its her interpretation of the song and of course her voice that gets you !!!

Barbra takes it nice and easy on this L/P....Mind you there are some "Power Ballads" on it which shows off Barbra's vocal range....Good job she manages to control her top notes !!...as the title is "The Way We Were" it does have that hit on it !!

The L/P was produced By "Richard Perry" who in the 60's 70's 80's was producing all the top singers of the day's L/P's...Barbra once again sings some of the 60s &70's songs rather than Standards....note her duet with herself on track 5 Side One...its a gud un !!!

This is also an early recording of Barbra's....if I remember correctly it was a TV Special that she did in about 1965....most of her early work was straight forward and un-complicated...her later recordings tended to be a bit over produced but saying that she is still a great singer and has made some great L/P's & CD's.....Great version of "Someone To Watch Over Me" and who would of thought that "I've Got No Strings" from "Disney's" "Pinocchio" would sound as good as it does !!!

P.S. It always has puzzled me why they seemed to be 2 front covers to this L/P and it has just dawned on me DUH!!....Side One relates to the cover above and Side Two cover below is Barbra in grown up mode and the songs reflect that !!!.....That took over 50 years for the penny to drop !!!

Not much one can say about Barbra Streisand that hasn't been said thousands of times so I wont even attempt too !!....great selection of songs especially "I Found You Love"...and she has complete control of her voice...she recorded this L/P about 1977 just after her Film "A Star Is Born".....nice cover !!

With this L/P Barbra still has not got 100% control over her voice.. but still it's some of the best early vocals of hers...what she does with the track "Down With Love"is nothing but genius...I wonder what it would sound like if she did it now!!!...There is no doubt that her voice has changed and gone deeper and these days she has got full control of her voice....and there is a definite different sound now....Her record company CBS released a 45 single of two songs from this L/P that are different versions "My Colouring Book" & "Lover Come Back To Me"so I am posting them as well so you can hear the difference !!

P.S. Some Production Information....both the L/P and the single was produced by "Mike Bernikar"The L/P was released in England in 1963 and was arranged and conducted by "Peter Matz"....the single was released in England in 1962 and the track "My Colouring Book" was arranged and conducted by "Robert Mersey"..."Lover Come Back To Me" was arranged and conducted by "George Williams"......there is defiantly a difference in the "Colouring Book" track but not much difference to the "Lover" track !!!

 This is Barbra's first L/P recorded in 1963....I think it took her about 4 L/P's before she got complete control of her voice....saying that it's still a fantastic L/P....I first heard of her on a T/V show called "The Bernard Braden Show"...BOY that's going back some years !!!...I think I must have been the first person to buy her L/P had to order it because no one had even heard of her and it took about a fortnight before I finally got it...6 Months later everybody was "Streisand " Mad !!

 This is one of the best of Barbra's early recordings...she has now got control of her voice on the high notes that she usually blasts out...and she sounds much sweeter....she is now the singer on this L/P that we all know now....Saying that I still reckon that her 1 st and 2 nd L/P's take some beating...my opinion of course...if you disagree leave a comment !!

   Now then !!! I have a bit of an issue with this L/P.....BUT before I go into it I have to tell you that it has my all time favourite "Streisand" track and also my second favourite one on it !!
that is...No 1 all time great track..."The Kind Of Man A Woman Needs" No 2..."He Touched Me"....both of these are "Barbra" at her best !!!!......Now comes the moans....I wish that the producers had toned down the orchestra... on some of the tracks I think that it seems like the vocals and orchestra where trying to outdo one another to see who could be louder !!....It is from a TV special show....maybe it's taken from that but I doubt it...I think that Barbra would have gone into the studio to record the tracks...OR maybe I have a faulty pressing....be interested if any one out there who has the L/P has a pristine one !!...and is different !!
