 This is one of those L/P's that the record company fails on delivery !!...what I  mean is when I first saw and bought this L/P I was expecting some "live performances" of Eydie's.... instead on it is a selection of "Standards"....although I have said before that Eydie has never made a bad L/P this one is a mediocre one....NOW whether or not I have been initalialy disapointed by it and it has influenced my judgement I don't know....But there does seem to be something missing !!!.....Would be interested in other peoples opinon as I know there are quite a few "Eydie Gorme" fans out there !!!...so come on people let me know what you think !!

This lady has the knack of singing that makes you think that it's as easy as pie to just open your mouth and a perfect noise comes out....She makes singing seem simple....BUT as we who can't sing and many people who actually can know that that is not that simple...You have to be born with a vocal voice and usually it takes years of hard work and practice to be a good singer....And BOY Eydie has just done that !!...she tackles these songs with hardly any effort at all making an excellent L/P for all "Gorme" fans...All the tracks are good and if you can read the back cover it gives you an insight to the songs..

  Here's one from the late 70's "Annie Haslam" was the lead singer in the group "Renaissance" don't know whether the group is still going today and she is still in it..will have to Google it and find out...But it's a good L/P it is produced and arranged by "Roy Wood"....Two tracks stand out

"If I Loved You" note the Russian Music style arrangement and "Rockalise"....Love the cover done by "Roy Wood" seems he had quite an input still I suppose if you produce something then it's your baby !!.........last track is cool as well I'll just say "Hovis"...I wonder how many people will get the connection.........

P.S. This is definitely one of my favourite L/P's loved it when I bought it and still play it regular I also bought it on CD when at that time it was the thing to do in 1978 !!..as I have said many times before "Don't Time Fly "!!!!!!....If anybody wants a surprise.... download it and listen to Track One Side Two...for pure Magic !!!...and you won't hear anything of "Nat King Cole" on "Nature Boy" !!!!!!

Not had some "Joanna"(Piano) music for awhile so here is a couple from "Belgium"...Must say not heard of "Pia Beck" before but both L/P's are great and does show that she is an accomplished pianist and a individual singer....Sooooooooo anybody who has not heard her before and want a new listening experience have a listen !!! guarantee you'll like it !!!....great what she does with "Teach Me Tonight" !!!...and the "Earl Bostik" reference in "L'amore"

The Deep River Quartet is a Dutch close harmony group with a wide repertoire with room for gospel, swing, soul, blues, ballads, pop, jazz and opera.
From 1979 until the late eighties, the group existed alongside Dick Rietveld (vocals) and Siebe Vink (also known as Sybrandus Finck: vocals, bass) from Kees Hendriks (vocals) and Wout Bijker (vocals, guitar). Other singers who have sung in the group are Placido R. Hazel and Gene Alexander.
In 1983 the group reached the Top 40 with the single Swing Is The Thing.
Bass Sybrandus Finck (1971, founder) and baritone Dick Rietveld (1979) in 2009, the only two original members, assisted by Ace Vincent (tenor, 1997) and Brian Sporkslede (tenor, 2005).
