Ella Fitzgerald Sings The Irving Berlin Song Book Vol 1.

 Another of Ella's Songbooks Vol 1....Vol 2 will arrive shortly !!.....This time the Orchestra is by "Paul Weston".....you do run out of things to say about Ella....even in the later years when her voice wasn't at it's best the "Magic" was still there....This Songbook is Ella definatly at her Peak !!

P.S. "It only seems  like yesterday" is a Quote that everybody at some point in their life has stated !! so here's me having a say !!...65 Years have shot by since "Ella" got behind the microphone in the recording studio and produced this "Gem".....sadly she is missed by the thousands of fans around the world !!!...RIP "Ella" !!!

This recording of Ella's is from 1947-1955...The cover of this L/P I think is one of the best pictures of Ella that has been put on a cover...I think that you can hear the change in her voice on the 1947 recording's as compared to the 1955 ones it has got deeper and sweeter !!

Ella Fitzgerald...Sings Gershwin Vol 1.

I wasn't going to post any of the "Ella Songbooks"but having been listening to them again and decided to post them...I have most of the "Songbooks"on L/P's and have also bought them again on CD's....I still think that they sound better as an L/P....true there is no crackles or pops...but there is still something different in the sound !!...starting with the Gershwin's there are 5 Volumes so will be posting the rest soon...All 5 have their covers painted by an French artist called "Bernard Buffet"who incidentally is one of my favourite modern artists.

P.S. The Info on the songs comes from the Booklet that came with the CD's it is very informative so enjoy the read !!

 This Ella L/P is an American release recorded after most of the song books with a good solid big band sound...not many strings so it has a good Jazz and Swing feel to it...All brilliant tracks favourite one is "You Can Depend On Me"

P.S. This L/P of Ella's is one of the best of her "Studio" Recording's...The "Big Band" sound arranged and conducted by "Bill Doggett" captures the essence of her "Jazz At The Philharmonic" days and as the sleeve notes says "Ella Is Having the time of her life" and I agree it's definitely "Ella In Concert Mode" !!!......Love the cover photo!!!

 This is a 10 inch L/P of early Ella's....way before her move to Verve Records and all the "Songbooks".....I think there is a slight imperfection in the pressing of this L/P...on the track
"I've Got A Crush on you" if you listen very carefully you can hear the repeat of her singing it only goes on for a couple of lines... but it's worth a mention I wonder if anyone else who has got the album has also got it or maybe it's a one off....anyway its Ella and she can't do no wrong !!
