A very good Swingin' L/P from Caterina one of her best on the "Decca" label....Best track is definatly "Never Will I Marry"....and she has a great orchestra in "Johnny Keating" That definatly swings along with her !!

 Now we have comparison that I believe shows that sometimes Vinyl wins over CD's

I managed to find Stereo versions and CD's of several Caterina Valente L/P's.. I Have posted one below "The Caterina Valente Singers" in "Stereo' which by the way is great.. an improvement on the Mono Version...BUT this one "Superfonics" seems to have lost its "Oomph"......or maybe its my hearing !!...be interesting if anyone has an opinion on this one.....saying that, the stereo is still good but I defininatly prefer the Vinyl copy....the track order will be Vinyl  first then the CD Version

 Another Valente L/P on the "Decca" label...this time she is doing the "South American Rhythms of the "Bossa Nova"all of the tracks are done in that style...She does play the guitar on most of her records I wonder if she does on this one !!...no mention of it on the sleeve notes !

Caterina sings all songs in German and I have found a "Google Translation" of the songs so blame "Google" if they read a little strange !!.....I think thay did a direct translation and that never works 100% !!

 Caterina Valente Live in Germany....doesn't say on the sleeve or on the L/P what the year was but I should think that it was in the early 70's....Soooooooo a nice treat for all you Guys & Gals In Germany

Another first class effort from Caterina...I wish it was the "Stereo"version...in the early 60's when most of these "Decca" releases were bought if I remember it was quite an effort for the record shops to stock "Stereo" versions unless you asked for them....it was in the late 60's I think that they began to stock both the "Stereo" and The "Mono" versions as part of their ordering system.....Back to the L/P with "Johnny Keating & His Orch" this swings like the big bands of the 50's !!!

Once again we have an excellent L/P of Caterina and her brother Silvio just with their guitars singing and playing in Spanish...Singing that is ...don't know how they could play their guitars in Spanish !!!....we never seem to get anything like this these days ??

This was probably the last English L/P release of Caterina's it was recorded in 1975 when she was still married to "Roy Budd" and he has produced it....it was recorded in England and once again it's a typical 70's sound and 70's songs...so as so many L/P's before... the "Now" is 1975 !!!....She does a good job on the tracks but nothing that you could say was "great" best song for me is the last track "I Wont Last A Day "

 Now this cover looks a lot battered and torn..so it should be... it's my favourite L/P of all time and like all the "Valente" records that I will be posting on here has been played thousands of times.. times ten!!...word to everyone !!...if you only download one L/P from this site this is the one !! every track is pure gold...you usually find that an L/P or CD that you buy has one or two excellent tracks on it the rest are OK ..if you are lucky....this one has got every track 100% grrrrrrrrreat....Cor' I do go on dont I !!!
But don't take my word for it have a
"Download" on me !!....I would definatly like some comments on this one PLEASE !!!

RIP..Caterina Valente

Just heard some SAD SAD news that my favourite Singer has died, On September 9th at home in Switzerland...She was great and will be missed by millions of fans that includes me...Her memory will live on with all the music that she has recorded over the 93 Years of her fantastic life....RIP Caterina

This L/P goes to the top of my list for fantastic orchestral arrangements if fact it has my top favourite singer singing my favourite song of all time "The Breeze And I"...friends of mine can't understand why I like singers singing in a foreign language they always say "can't understand what she is singing"so why listen....to me its the whole of the song if the singer is good and the orchestra is good and a good arrangement if you cant understand the words that's okay.....

P.S.This L/P contains the songs that began my number one fan status of "La Valente"....before I got this L/P I had quite a few songs on 78's then on 45's in fact I still have the 45's the 78's got broken years ago as everybody of my era knows they were very brittle and prone to getting broken usualy by people sitting on them !!...or dropping them....but these are some of the best early recordings of "Caterina's"....and I still play them today...wish I had a £ for every time this one has been on the turntable  I'd be a rich fella!!!!

 This is the Television Concert that Caterina did in 1975 on the day that she should have been performing in my home town of "Leicester".....I had booked to see her and was very exited then "Boooooom" got a msg from the ticket office that the performance had been cancelled because of the clash of dates !!!....never did get to see her !!!...which was a pity I would have loved it !!...AHhhhhhhhhh!!!!.C'est La Vie"!!!!!
Not To sure about the applause tho!... seems to be "Canned" (Recorded) not the actual applause...Might be wrong but it does sound a bit funny no cheers and fading at the end of the songs !!

This is the first of two that Caterina recorded on the "Pye" label in about 1975 when she was married to "Roy Budd" who she married in 1971 and divorced in 1980...This L/P was produced by "Roy Budd" and on "Side One" all the tracks but one were written by him....Its Caterina in a quiet laid back voice which shows just how a good singer she is....."Side Two" is completely different..she does duets with her brother "Silvio" on two tracks...Three tracks are taken from a live performance in "Germany"....unfortunately the recordings are not to good ( Sound Wise ) which is a pity because I like "live" recordings !!....And she does a very brave recording of "We've Only Just Begun"...no orchestra just her singing... like acapella...and does a great job....not many singers of today would be brave enough to do that!!!! IMHO !!!!!

This lady is something else !!....she is also one of my favourite singers and will be on here in abundance !!...this L/P was bought in the 50's when I was in the army.... I was in "The Royal  Signals" in "Bahrain".....A very long shot comming up !!....IF by any chance anyone who's looking in was there in 1957/8 or even before or after get in touch !!!

Ok back to the L/P...the last track "Le Grisbi" has a jump on it tried to get rid of it but couldn't being that this is about 60 years old it has definatly wore well considering how many times it has been played !!....All the "Polydor" L/P issues have defininatly passed the test of time !!!

The cover on the right has been restored by "Anonymous" !!..Thank you!!! just shows what you can do if you have the KNOW HOW !!!!

Me again: When I unpack music, I "process it in" - tweak the tags, album art, etc. to a consistent local format. That often includes making a 700 x 700 version of the front cover to embed in the tracks, and maybe some repairs. That gets a little out of hand sometime...  Here's a favourite of mine singing in Italian (I think) 99% sure but if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me....she's great.... been a fan of hers since the early 50's..regretfully I have never seen her live and would have loved to....nearly did one year when she was doing a British tour but the show was cancelled because she was making a TV special on the day that she should have been in The De Montfort Hall Leicester....won't get to see her now she is retired from singing....AHH well such is life !!!...at least she has made loads of recordings that we can enjoy....Thanks to the Great Caterina Valente !!!!
