Nilsson.

I think that this one could be one of Nilsson's non comercial efforts....It certainly has a lot of guest musicians...produced by him and all the tracks are his own work....Got that "West Indies" "Jamaica" feel to....It took me quite a while to work out the Title of the L/P...thought it was French....then one day "Duh"....got it !!!

This has been recorded as Track 1 all the first side...most of the tracks run into one another 
Side 2 is Tracks 2 to 6 ...

This L/P as you can see from the cover was recorded in London 57 years ago !!..WOW doesn't time fly !!...wish I had a time machine to go back to "Swingin' London" in the 60's..I had a great time there would do it all over again..even the sad times were good !!..anyway enuff of me rattling on and get back to the songs....Sinatra in good voice not a "Swinger" in sight just a nice relaxing set of "Great British Songs"...Must admit tho' hadn't heard of last track !!

The Walker Brothers.

The Walker Brothers came to life in 1965...3 American guys who were not brothers..."Scott" "John" and "Gary" I think that they had more success in England than the States...This is a Double L/P set that has most of there world wide hits on it....they even had a go at some standard songs and they certainly do a good job with them...namely "Just For a Thrill"
which is a solo by "John" and IMHO is equal to some of the "Jazz" versions by other singers

Whaooooooooooo whats that right at the back !!!...a real 50's blast from the past..and if you are into"Eurovision Song Contest" then this is a gem !!...they came second for Britain in 1959 !! with the first track  !!!....the following tracks I guess are most of their 78's /  45's... info coming up !!!

Carr was born in Exmouth, Devon, while Johnson was born in Surbiton, Surrey. They were both successful solo singers before their marriage in 1955. Carr had been lead singer with the Keynotes, who had two British hits in 1956 with Dave King: "Memories Are Made of This"  and "You Can't Be True To Two" She also was a popular radio singer and comedian on Bernard Braden's Bedtime With Braden radio show.
Johnson had led his own teenage band, was a professional drummer and a recording artist for Columbia in the early 1950s. He also was a DJ on Radio Luxembourg[1] and later on BBC Radio 2, and had appeared in television shows such as the BBC's children's Crackerjack.

 Pearl Carr now 94 and Teddy Johnson now 97 both live in Brinsworth House a home for retired entertainers.

Billie Holiday.

This is a fantastic L/P maybe perhaps for the Jazz lovers...but maybe after reading this some of you out there with good music taste will perhaps give it a listen...Billie sings with a jazz group of Trumpet, Tenor Sax, Piano, Guitar And Drums and all the tracks except one is done in a Jam Session Style.. that is Billie Sings then you have the solo's of trumpet, sax, ect ending with Billie singing again...The Track "One For My Baby" is a corker she sings all the time all 5 and a half minuets of it and it even beats the "Sinatra's" version and boy does that take some doing !! Billie voice is definitely an acquired taste when I first heard her I didn't take much notice but as the years went by and I got older and wiser then the appreciation kicked in...This was recorded in 1956 unfortunately 3 years later Billie died.....

Now for something from the 70's a great compilation of hits some well known and some not so !
An interesting track is track 9 Side 2 "Brandy" by "Scott English" I wonder if it would have become a bigger hit if "Barry Manilow" hadn't recorded it as "Mandy" !!!
All in all this is a good reflection of the songs that defined the hits of the 70's !!

 Anne Shelton was a very popular singer from the 50's & 60's and I believe that she was the only singer to sing with "Glenn Millers" band when he came to England to do some broadcasting for the BBC....This L/P is a collection of her singles and a couple of tracks from another L/P which I will be posting later

P.S Just a bit of "Musical Trivia"....Anne's recording of "Lay Down Your Arms" was banned from being played on the BBC because of the fact that "Soldiers were not suposed to lay down their Arms (Weapons) according to the WD !!!.....It still was one of Anne's greatest hits and I believe was a no 1 for her (I think) !!!
