The Bob Crew Generation

 Robert Stanley Crewe (November 12, 1930 – September 11, 2014) was an American songwriter, dancer, singer, manager, and record producer. He was known for producing, and co-writing with Bob Gaudio, a string of Top 10 singles for the Four Seasons

The Bob Crewe Generation was a group of studio musicians put together by Producer/Songwriter Bob Crewe, who was best known for his work with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. They had a #15 hit in 1967, when they recorded "Music To Watch Girls By" which had appeared in a Diet pepsi commercial. A 19-track compilation CD, "The Best of The Bob Crewe Generation" was released on Feb. 7, 2006

The Bob Crewe Generation briefly reappeared as a chart act in the mid-1970s, recording material for the disco era. The Generation's 1970 LP Let Me Touch You, including covers of Henry Mancini's "Moon River" and "Two For The Road", arranged by Charles Fox, remains a favorite of lounge music collectors. It was also their only quadraphonic release.

This is one of Pets American releases recorded in 1971 in Miami....not a hint of the "Hatch & Trent" sound...except of course on the title track which was not arranged by "Tony Hatch" but still has the same sound.....Seems that quite a few of Petula's American releases contains a Hit title track that became the title of the L/P.....She sings contemporary songs of the day by composers of today.

Bernard Cribbins.

This L/P features an "English" character actor and singer who started his career in the 50's and is still with us !! on the way he's collected an OBE !...Gud on you Lad !!!...so here's a slice of "British" humour !!!!

 In 1962 he released three comic songs. "The Hole in the Ground" was about an annoyed workman who eventually buries a harasser. "Right Said Fred" was about three workmen who struggle to move an unspecified heavy and awkward object into or out of a building. Both these songs were produced by George Martin for Parlophone, with music by Ted Dicks and lyrics by Myles Rudge. "Hole in the Ground" and "Right Said Fred" both reached the top ten in the UK Singles Chart  His third and final single was "Gossip Calypso", which was another top 30 hit.

Edna McGriff

 A forgotten R&B singer from the 50's on CD !!....all 29 tracks !....if this was released on an L/P imagine how big it would be !!...forget the 12 Inch L/P !!!

Edna McGriff (December 16, 1935 – March 1980) was an American rhythm and blues singer and pianist. She recorded mainly in the 1950s, and secured one hit single on the US Billboard R&B chart with "Heavenly Father" in 1952. The record sold over 500,000 copies.

Edna McGriff was born in Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. She was educated at Washington Irving High School in New York. She released her first single, "Note Droppin' Papa" / "Come Back", on Jubilee Records in September 1951 with Bennie Green's band. Her second recording took place late that same year, when she sang with Buddy Lucas and His Band of Tomorrow on "Heavenly Father" / "I Love You". She was aged 16 at the time. The single was released in early 1952, and sales started to soar. The track entered the US R&B chart in April 1952, peaking at No. 4 in a 13-week stay. Various cover versions of "Heavenly Father" appeared, recorded by Fran Warren, The Four Lads, and also Evelyn Knight.

Although she only scored one major R&B hit in 1952 in cahoots with veteran tenor saxman Buddy Lucas, Edna McGriff was a prolific recording artist for more than a decade. That solitary hit came when the young singer was only 15 or 16 years of age (at least that's what the trade papers reported), so Edna had plenty of time to score more. The cards didn't fall that way, even with a short stint at Capitol Records at the tail end of her career that might have rejuvenated her commercial fortunes had luck been on her side.

Honi Gordon

Once again we have a forgotten voice that should be heard more !!

There are some great Instrumental Solo's on this L/P especially "Ken McIntyre" on Flute !!

Honi Gordon sang as a member of the Gordons (with her father and two brothers) in the early 1950s. Her first recordings, in 1953, were with them and Hank Jones (piano), Charles Mingus (bass), and Max Roach (drums). They were released on Debut Records' Autobiography in Jazz. The Gordons also appeared on recordings led by Lionel Hampton in 1956, and on the album Dizzy Gillespie and Stuff Smith in 1957.

Honi Gordon was among the one-album wonders of jazz; the obscure, bop-oriented singer recorded only one LP as a solo artist (1962's little-known Honi Gordon Sings). But her lack of exposure was not due to a lack of talent. Gordon, the daughter of vocalist/composer George Gordon, had an appealing style that was influenced by Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday, as well as Annie Ross. There were also hints of Chris Connor 

She recorded her first solo album, Honi Gordon Sings, for Prestige in 1962, employing such noteworthy jazzmen as acoustic bassist George Duvivier, drummer Ed Shaughnessy, and the eclectic pianist Jaki Byard. The album was quite promising; Gordon showed herself to be a strong interpreter of lyrics on material that ranged from Mingus' "Strollin'" and the standard "Ill Wind" to her father's "My Kokomo." But, unfortunately, Gordon's first solo album was also her last -- after Honi Gordon Sings, she never recorded again as a solo artist.

Edward Isaac Bickert, CM (November 29, 1932 – February 28, 2019) was a Canadian jazz guitarist.

A native of Hochfeld, Manitoba, Bickert grew up in Vernon, British Columbia. When he was eight years old, he started playing guitar. He performed at country dances with his parents, who were musicians, his mother on piano, his father on fiddle. During the early 1950s, Bickert he worked as a radio engineer in Toronto.

Later, Bickert became a studio musician, recording as a sideman for Ron Collier, Moe Koffman, Phil Nimmons, and Rob McConnell and performed in a duo with Don Thompson and a trio with Thompson and Terry Clarke. He worked with American musicians when they toured in Toronto such as Ruby Braff, Paul Desmond, and Frank Rosolino. After playing in Japan with Milt Jackson, he recorded with Oscar Peterson, then Buddy Tate. He went on tour during the 1980s with McConnell, Koffman, and Peter Appleyard.

Bickert signed with Concord and recorded with Ernestine Anderson, Benny Carter, Rosemary Clooney, Lorne Lofsky, Dave McKenna, Ken Peplowski, and Neil Swainson. Lofsky was a member of his quartet in the 1980s and 1990s........(Info Edited From Wikipedia)
