Sheena Easton

Sheena Shirley Easton (née Orr; born 27 April 1959) is a Scottish singer and actress who achieved recognition in an episode of the reality television series The Big Time: Pop Singer, which recorded her attempts to gain a record deal and her eventual signing with the EMI label. Her first two singles, "Modern Girl" and "9 to 5", both entered the top ten of the UK Singles Chart simultaneously. She became one of the most successful British female recording artists of the 1980s. Easton became the first and only recording artist in Billboard history to have a top five hit on each of Billboard's primary singles charts: "Morning Train (Nine to Five)" (Pop and Adult Contemporary), "We've Got Tonight" with Kenny Rogers (Country and Adult Contemporary) and "Sugar Walls" (R&B and Dance).

Jack Jones.

I think that this L/P will be loved by the "Jack Jones" & "Michel Legrand" purists the most...To me it lacks in the songs that has been chosen....maybe because the majority are not at all familiar to me...saying that JJ is as usual in fine voice and you can't fault the vocals...This of course is MHO !!.........Be a strange world if everybody thought the same !!

Tom Jones.

It's a pity that most of the London venues like "The Cafe De Paris" and the above "Talk Of The Town" are not now as they used to be in the 50'- 80's and maybe a few years beyond...hosting all the great singers of the time!!...because its great to hear the interaction of a couple of hundred people that you get with this "Tom Jones" performance !!....Ok time's a - changing and now days we have the "Stadiums" and "Arena's" that hold thousands of people and they do have some cracking concerts there and folks do get carried away with the spectacle and do have a great time...but I do miss the intimacy of a small concert hall or as the above mention venues were like to go to for a night out to hear you favourite singers !!....Ok slight moan over back to the L/P this was recorded in 1967 so I think that Tom was at the beginning of his career he certainly is in great voice and sings his hits to date !!....I was surprised at the choice of "My Yiddisha Momme" because usually that is sung by a female vocalist...good on him to have a go and he does a good job with it !!

1. Ain't That Good News

The Righteous Brothers

Music from THAT iconic scene !

The Righteous Brothers are an American musical duo originally formed by Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield but now comprising Medley and Bucky Heard. Medley formed the group with Hatfield in 1963. Their most active recording period was in the 1960s and '70s.
Following a year and a half of Top 40 non-entries on Billboard's Hot 100, the duo hit big with the late-1964 release of what would become their signature record, "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" – a transatlantic number one produced by Phil Spector, often considered one of his finest works and a landmark recording in popular music. Other notable hits include US 1965 Top Tens – "Just Once in My Life" and covers of "Unchained Melody" (also a huge hit in 1990 after being featured in the film Ghost)

Frank Sinatra

The year is 1966 and Sinatra was 50 and his voice was at its peak singing or should I say swingin' with the Count Basie Band... this is a great live performance and if you like Sinatra you will love it !!!...here's some quotes from Sinatra himself about that night when the recording machines were switched on !!!

Frank Sinatra say's about playing with Basie at the Sands in January 1966
“The Basie orchestra was a like juggernaut. When they came at you, after the downbeat and the orchestra started to play, you knew that you had to be part of that or you got lost. We did things that were really jumping  I tried to stay in the realm of what the orchestra was playing. I hang back just a little bit, in a sense.”
“You cannot swing if a band doesn’t settle into the proper tempo. I don’t care how good you are, it just doesn’t come out right.”
“This is the greatest orchestra at any time in the history of the world.”
