Some Other Time Review by John Dougan...From ALLMUSIC.
No folk music here, as Tabor records an album of standards that includes Ellington's "Sophisticated Lady," and Monk's "Round Midnight," Cole Porter's "I've Got You Under My Skin," and the Sammy Cahn/Jule Styne-authored title track. What's intriguing is that while many of these songs swing hard in their original versions, Tabor reinvents them as ballads, and for the most part is very successful. It seems counterintuitive, but in rearranging the songs to suit her ballad style, Tabor manages to uncover a dark heart in many of these songs, making this an audacious effort. Not recommended to those who want faithful renditions of these classics, but to those who want new ways of considering how this music can be interpreted. Extra kudos go to longtime Tabor pianist Huw Warren for his great arrangements.
Some very different interpretations of some well known standard songs and some great Piano !....Cheers John !
