Kenneth Victor Mackintosh (4 August 1919 – 22 November 2005) was an English saxophonist, composer and bandleader. He accompanied singers such as Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey and Matt Monro..After a period in the Army, he went to London, and joined various big bands, such as the Oscar Rabin Band. Following the Second World War, he formed his own orchestra, making appearances at the Astoria Ballroom, Nottingham. He brought his band to the Wimbledon Palais in London, touring extensively at home and abroad. He also had great singing strength with such well-versed vocalists as Kenny Bardell, Gordon Langhorn and The Mackpies. His orchestra was featured on BBC Radio almost every week in the 1950s and early 1960s. In 1955, he appeared in the BBC Light Programme's "festival of dance music" at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Mackintosh also wrote his own music, such as "The Creep" (written under the pseudonym Andy Burton, with Brian Fahey). He had three entries in the UK Singles Chart between 1954 and 1960, with "The Creep" being his highest placed hit record, reaching No. 10 in January 1954. Among his fans was the Queen Mother, for whom he played twice at Windsor Castle

Yazoo

Yazoo (known as Yaz in North America) were an English synth-pop duo from Basildon, Essex, consisting of former Depeche Mode member Vince Clarke (keyboards) and Alison Moyet (vocals). The duo formed in late 1981 after Clarke responded to an advertisement Moyet placed in a British music magazine, although the pair had known each other since their school days.
Over the next 18 months the duo released two albums, Upstairs at Eric's and You and Me Both, which received critical acclaim for their production, particularly the blending of Clarke's synthesizer melodies with Moyet's blues- and soul-influenced vocals.

Caterina Valente.

This is the first of two that Caterina recorded on the "Pye" label in about 1975 when she was married to "Roy Budd" who she married in 1971 and divorced in 1980...This L/P was produced by "Roy Budd" and on "Side One" all the tracks but one were written by him....Its Caterina in a quiet laid back voice which shows just how a good singer she is....."Side Two" is completely different..she does duets with her brother "Silvio" on two tracks...Three tracks are taken from a live performance in "Germany"....unfortunately the recordings are not to good ( Sound Wise ) which is a pity because I like "live" recordings !!....And she does a very brave recording of "We've Only Just Begun"...no orchestra just her singing... like acapella...and does a great job....not many singers of today would be brave enough to do that!!!! IMHO !!!!!

Well now... love the first track on this L/P just the kind of track I would like to put on this blog as an intro !!! but don't know how to do that !!.....also have had a look on "Wikipedia" to find more about "Boney M"......Cripes! what a lot of info on there.....I knew that the "Front" people of this group there was only one singer that actually sang... the rest of then just "Mimed" (Lip Synced) and the founder and producer was the singer as well using all the technical gizmo's to get the "Boney M " sound !!!.....must have been a nightmare  on the so called "Live" performances....But the sound is great and I suppose that is really what is important !!

The Tony Mansell Singers

This is a pleasant "Easy Listening" L/P...Not a patch on "The Ray Conniff Singers" or "The Mike Sammes Singers"...who IMHO are the best !!....Also didn't realise that Burt had written
"Guantalamera" as "Good Year For Young Love"...thought the melody was "Traditional"....But I reckon that it must have been included because of "Hal David's" Lyrics !

ABC.

I think I must have been asleep in the 80's ! this is also a first listen to this group (Duo)

ABC is an English pop band that originated in Sheffield in 1980, evolving from the earlier ensemble Vice Versa. The band's classic formation featured Martin Fry as the lead vocalist, Mark White on guitar and keyboards, Stephen Singleton playing the saxophone, and David Palmer behind the drums.
The band had three top 10 hits during 1982: the singles "Poison Arrow", "The Look of Love"
After a hiatus, during which Fry was being treated for Hodgkin's lymphoma, he and White reconvened ABC as a duo, releasing the album Alphabet City in 1987. The album returned them to the UK Top 10 for the first time in five years, peaking at No. 7. The album also spawned "The Night You Murdered Love" (UK No. 31) and "King Without a Crown" (UK No. 44) as singles.
