Alma Cogan

Here we have a Swedish release of Alma's early recordings.....it seems that they have cranked up the orchestra on the first track and went for a cup o'tea !!..leaving poor Alma to battle with the orchestra.....it just shows you that the little man twiddling the knobs in the control room is sometimes needed !!

Bill Haley & His Comets

I would give a guess that this is some of Bill Haley's early recordings......OOOOOPs...just checked on Wikipedia and this is some of what they say...

Recorded over the span of more than 18 months, Strictly Instrumental was the ninth rock and roll album by Bill Haley & His Comets, and their final album of new material for Decca Records (although Decca would release previously unissued recordings during the 1960s). Produced by Milt Gabler (the last full album he would produce for Haley), the album collects instrumental recordings made by Haley and the Comets between June 1958 and their final Decca recording sessions in September 1959. (The band subsequently began recording for Warner Bros. Records in January 1960.)
As the title of the album suggests, all of the songs on this album were instrumentals, with the exception of some ensemble singing on the track "Chiquita Linda". Bill Haley's involvement in the recordings was a matter of conjecture until research for the Bear Family Records box set The Decca Years and More in the early 1990s confirmed his presence.

Tuxedo Junction - "Chattanooga Choo Choo" (1978) - MDA Telethon

Browsing YouTube I came across this video from the disco era of the 70's...so get your Cuban heels on and have a look and a listen to the two L/p's that I found !!

Tuxedo Junction Disco Band

Well now hope you enjoyed the video above...just a great bit of late 70's/80's nostalgia mixed in with the 40's...I guess it won't be everybody's cup 'o tea but it a great idea even tho' it does go on a bit !! so you would be Travolta's mind your backs and anything else that could be strained !!

1. Chattanooga Choo Choo
2. Rainy Night In Rio
3. Moonlight Serenade

1. Fox Trot
2. Volga Boatman
3. Tuxedo Junction

Tuxedo Junction - whose hallmark was a blend of retro-flavored big band sound and modern disco - eclipsed prematurely in 1979, after just two full-length albums and a handful of singles.

It would take two producers as wicked as Laurin Rinder & W. Michael Lewis to fuse the big band swing sound of the 30s with the disco beat of the 70s ... and make it work. The result was the novelty Tuxedo Junction, released on yellow vinyl on Butterfly Records 1977, and it yielded club hits with their takes on the standards "Chattanooga Choo Choo" and "Moonlight Serenade" with singers Marilyn Jackson, Sue Allen and Marti McCall cooing and crooning.

Tuxedo Junction Disco Band

2. That Old Black Magic
3. Take The A Train

Jean Goldkette & His Orchestra

Not exactly recorded in the 20's but in the late 1950's with the arrangements by Sy Oliver

John Jean Goldkette (March 18, 1893 – March 24, 1962) was a jazz pianist and bandleader.
He led many jazz and dance bands, of which the most popular was his Victor Recording Orchestra of 1924–1929. The band defeated Fletcher Henderson in a battle of the bands contest. The head arranger was Bill Challis and the musicians included Bix Beiderbecke, Steve Brown, Hoagy Carmichael, Jimmy Dorsey, Tommy Dorsey, Eddie Lang, Chauncey Morehouse, Don Murray, Bill Rank, and Spiegle Willcox. Rex Stewart, a member of Henderson's band, wrote that "It was, without any question, the greatest in the world...the original predecessor to any large white dance orchestra that followed, up to Benny Goodman." Brian Rust also called it "the greatest band of them all."...........Plenty of info on the back sleeve  !!
