Here's that lady singer with the strange first name ! with another brilliant L/P cant make up my mind what I would say what kind of singer she is...it's a cross between "Country & Rock"....on some tracks she defiantly a "Rock Chick" on others its "Country"...those of you out there who haven't had the pleasure I would recommend that you give her a listen!!..you won't be disappointed....and if you like her there's 2 more that I have posted earlier....The recording sound wise on this L/P is excellent....play it loud and hope your speakers don't blow !!

This is the first English L/P that "Nana" recorded it was recorded in "New York"and originally Titled "The Girl From Greece Sings" "Nana Mouskouri in New York"....its a belter of a record and shows how good she was even at an early age....well worth a listen too !!..thanks Bob !!

Another easy listening L/P with another label attempt at the "Stereo" bandwaggon....I don't think that anyone will beat the "Phase 4" Stereo sound that was and maybe still is produced by the "Decca" label.....A good selection of tunes from the films....but unfortunatly they are sounding the same..... tempo wise and production wise !!!

I never did see this film on the "Big Screen" only caught it on TV years and years later !!....No particular reason just didn't get round to the Cinema even tho' as far as I can remember it was on the Cinema for Months & Months !!..must have been too busy !!
Anyway I think by now its too well known to make any observations and comments !!!

Christine Ellen "Chrissie" Hynde (born September 7, 1951) is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She is a founding member and the guitarist, lead vocalist, and primary songwriter of the rock band the Pretenders, as well as its only constant member.

Hynde formed the Pretenders in 1978 with Pete Farndon, James Honeyman-Scott and Martin Chambers. She has also released a number of songs with other musicians including Frank Sinatra, Cher and UB40, and she released the solo album Stockholm in 2014.

The notion of Chrissie Hynde recording a jazz album initially seems odd, even incongruous. Hynde admitted as much in the promotional cycle for the release of Valve Bone Woe , calling herself a "devout rock singer," but revealing that the idea of a jazz album appealed to her because she has a "penchant for cover songs." That much is true. Ever since the first Pretenders album, she's managed to sneak other people's songs into LPs and set lists, but Valve Bone Woe is her first collection primarily devoted to covers. If its existence is a bit of a surprise, it is, perhaps, less of a shock that Valve Bone Woe isn't strictly jazz. Hynde weaves covers of the Beach Boys ("Caroline, No"), Nick Drake ("River Man"), and the Kinks ("No Return") among versions of songs by Frank Sinatra ("Hello, Young Lovers"), John Coltrane ("Naima"), and Charles Mingus ("Meditation on a Pair of Wire Cutters"). Hynde's throughlines are strong melodies and warm arrangements that evoke the height of mid-20th century sophistication. Most of Valve Bone Woe sways to a soft, gentle beat and is dressed in elegant strings, keyboards, and other jazzy accouterments, but beneath this lush exterior lies some modern flair. Hints of studio trickery are peppered throughout the record, most evident in elongated electronic echoes, and far from seeming out of place, they lend the album a certain sense of hipness; Hynde isn't shutting out the modern world, she's ushering the past into the present. The vibe is appealing and so is Hynde's performance. Unhurried and nuanced, she eases herself into songs she clearly loves, and that sense of warmth lingers long after the album's last notes fade away.

Shirley Abicar

Shirley Abicair (born 26 October 1928) is an Australian-born singer, musician, TV personality, actress and author.

While studying in Sydney she began singing at parties and private functions to support her studies, accompanying herself on the zither. Self-taught, she is said to have found the zither whilst rummaging in a cupboard as a small child. She then entered and won a Sydney radio talent quest. This led to offers of engagements on radio and in theatre and cabaret.

In 1956, she recorded (with George Martin (later the Beatles' producer) producing) the title song for the soundtrack of the classic Australian film Smiley. On 26 March 1956, Abicair appeared on BBC TV Off The Record. Through the middle/late 1950s she hosted (with help from her puppet friends, Australian indigenous children, Tea Cup and Clothespeg), a series called Children's Hour.

In 1961, Abicair accepted a request to perform at The Variety Club of Great Britain eighth annual Star Gala at the Festival Gardens, Battersea Park, London, Saturday 13 May 1961. In 1962, she toured the Soviet Union, and in the same year she gave a recital at the Festival Hall in London. Later that year in October she visited the United States for performances. 

In 1971, she moved to Oregon in the United States, where she appeared in a series of college concerts with the American writer Ken Kesey......Abicair currently (2002-2007) lived in London and divides her time between Britain, the USA and Australia. ( Info Edited From Wikipedia )

Back pocket getting a bit bulky !!..still there is still plenty of room for classy lady singers like the above....Great picture !!...I always thought that she was a country and western singer and for a start she was then she decided to change record labels and this L/P is one of the results...its a good one with some familar songs given a different treatment which I like !!
