everyone enjoy's it !!........(This post was first posted in August 2016)

ReplyDeleteMy first classical album was also the 1812! A Classics For Pleasure version of Mackerras conducting the London Symphony. Sometimes I browse the web looking for best versions of classical pieces and then try to find a copy at the library or on the web somewhere. The 'Essential Classical Music by Gil Zilkha' Youtube channel seems to have reviewed lots and recommends only this/your version of the 1812! Congrats on your taste! This piece is now available on CD as part of a 31 CD set 'Antal Dorati & the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra - The Mercury Masters: The Mono Recordings' released in 2023. I wonder if it is at the library ....
