The Spotnicks

How's about some "Guitar" music before we get to some serious female vocals !!...I certainly had a good rummage around "John's" record shop last time !!!

The Spotnicks are an instrumental rock group from Sweden, who were formed in 1961. Together with the Shadows and the Ventures they are counted as one of the most famous instrumental bands during the 1960s. They were famous for wearing "space suit" costumes on stage, and for their innovative electronic guitar sound. They have released 42 albums, selling more than 18 million records, and still tour.

Jennie Smith

Here's a new voice that should have been heard more than it was !!

Jennie Smith was a young vocalist who emerged briefly in the late '50s as a would-be Polly Bergen, or a potential rival to Patti Page as a pop singer. A stylist with a sound well beyond her years, at 19 she made her recording debut on RCA Victor with the backing of arranger/conductor Ray Ellis, releasing her own album that year.

She went on to release one more LP with Ellis, entitled Love Among the Young, at Columbia Records, in 1959, where she cut two more LPs. Her singles included "(I Won't) Go Away Little Boy" on the Canadian American label.

June Christy

One of June's early recordings she was definately a "Singers Singer !!

June Christy (born Shirley Luster; November 20, 1925 – June 21, 1990) was an American singer, known for her work in the cool jazz genre and for her silky smooth vocals. Her success as a singer began with The Stan Kenton Orchestra. She pursued a solo career from 1954 and is best known for her debut album Something Cool. After her death, she was hailed as "one of the finest and most neglected singers of her time."[1]

Rock Follies

Re-Post Requested By Dave In US.

When I came across this L/P I got exited because this was one of my favourite TV Series from the 70's....BUT unfortunately it doesn't come across on record as it did on the screen !!...Now whether its because of the time lapse 29 years to be exact or the fact that for most of the time you can't hear the lyrics of the songs owing to the volume of the orchestra !!....Still its nice to hear the songs again...I fondly remember The "Glenn Miller" song and "Biba Nova"

5. Lamplight

Shift back a few years now to 1976 to a "Duo" whose style is similar to "Simon & Garfunkel" & "Cashman & West"....There biggest hit in England was Track No 1 and the rest of the L/P are songs that have been written by them so it's definitely a "Self-Penned Effort"....and its great to hear songs that make sense and have a story to tell !!!
