Helen Shapiro....320 Kbps

When I bought this L/P I was pleasantly surprised....I've always liked Helen Shapiro in her "Pop" days and always thought that when she got older she would be good....a couple of her old tracks reminded me of an early Ella....well folks' I was 100% right....It's a corker...she joined forces with "Humphrey Lyttelton" and the "Jazz" influence has been brought out......Don't know whether "Humph" has had any input in this L/P but the producer and arranger has managed to do something different with the standard songs on it....You usually find that most of standard songs follow similar arrangements this one doesn't...best track is "Its Only A Paper Moon

1. Let Yourself Go
2. You Go To My Head
3. The Way You Look Tonight
4. Where Or When
5. Straighten Up And Fly Right
6. Cry me A River

1. It's Alright With Me
2. It's Only A Paper Moon
3. Serenade in Blue
4. They Can't Take That Away From Me
5. Funny

     2. It's Only A Paper Moon.

  4. This is one of the excellent albums made by Miss Shapiro after she reached maturity and forsook the pop world, going on to carve out a career in jazz. Truth be told, she was always a wasted talent until she put the popular stuff behind her. Her voice was too good and her ability far too great to be left only to the slight songs of her early career. She made albums with Humphrey Lyttelton and these well reward exploration - particularly the Duke Ellington set. She, of course, retired early to follow her religious calling. Many thanks for this wonderful album.

  6. It's tough to find the artist singing the music they should have, when the music industry is and always has been against them. Thanks for the chance to hear her in this genre.
