ReplyDeleteThis one brings back such nostalgic memories of 1960. I purchased a copy from a shop in Church Road, Willesden. I was attending Willesden School of Engineering and during the lunch hour we would go out and listen to the records being played (broadcast) on a speaker in the shop doorway. It was one of a pair of Top Rank "Buy" series, i.e. cheaper at something like 22 shillings and six pence) the other was (for my sins) Craig Douglas's "Only 16". The young lady who served in the shop was a sight to behold, especially to a 16 year old schoolboy - in fact my eyes water thinking of her now nearly 60 years later! I had previously purchased "Wilde About Marty" and "Cliff" (his first album) from the same shop - although I lived in Harrow Weald and made most of my purchases at Broadmeads in Wealdstone High Street. Enough of this, I gotta go Way Down Yonder with Freddy. Many thanks for all your work on this blog - keep truckin'.
ReplyDeleteThis is when he was at his best! Thanks, espo! [:
