Once again the man in the striped waistcoat and the bowler hat gives his "Liquorice Stick" (Music slang for Clarinet) I think !! a good lickin'!! with some well known tunes ....and some great back sleeve notes !!!..had to read them a couple of times before i got the drift !!

ReplyDeleteAh! The balm of Bilk, indeed this has charms to sooth the savage breast (or is it beast?) I saw/heard Acker around 10 or 12 years ago when he gave a performance at the Winston Churchill Hall in Ruislip. By that time he had lost some ability in his playing articulation, but nevertheless he could still swing with the best of 'em. He, of course, performed the obligatory "Strangle on The Show" but he made it plain he was tired of that millstone. This is a good morning listen. Thanks.
