Harry Secome.

The great voice of "Mr Bumble"& one of the "Goons" AKA "Harry Secome !!..from 1983 with songs that he sang in a Sunday Slot on TV...

Sir Harold Donald Secombe CBE (8 September 1921 – 11 April 2001) was a Welsh comedian, actor, singer and television presenter. Secombe was a member of the British radio comedy programme The Goon Show (1951–1960), playing many characters, most notably Neddie Seagoon. An accomplished tenor, he also appeared in musicals and films – notably as Mr Bumble in Oliver! (1968) – and, in his later years, was a presenter of television shows incorporating hymns and other devotional songs. In 1958 he appeared in the film Jet Storm, which starred Dame Sybil Thorndike and Richard Attenborough and in the same year Secombe starred in the title role in Davy, one of Ealing Studios' last films.
The power of his voice allowed Secombe to appear in many stage musicals. This included 1963's Pickwick, based on Charles Dickens's The Pickwick Papers, which gave him the no. 18 hit single "If I Ruled the World" – his later signature tune.

Mason Williams

Music 1968-1971 Review by Shawn M. Haney
Presented here is a collection of songs performed by a wealthy gathering of supremely talented musicians, led by Mason Williams, a legendary songwriter/composer in his own right. Released under the Warner Bros. label, the album Music 1968-1971 is just that -- pure music with soul, passion, and enough fire to fuel a storm and light the listener's spirit. Through the magic of tunes such as the instrumental "Greensleeves," the country-flavoured "Cowboy Buckaroo," and the witty rhymes and rhythms of "J. Edgar Swoop," listeners' ears are well entertained. What is most enriching about this recording is the large group of musicians from all backgrounds who send the songs into higher soundscapes. The lyrical content on the majority of the songs is mature and the melodies ring loud and clear with passion, flair, and at times romance, such as the sweet and endearing "Sunflower." Williams ends the album with a touch of finesse and adoration to his appreciative fans, expressing his sincere feelings in "A Gift of Song," a song written by Pat Ingles, a favourite singer and influence.

Songs That Won The War

Now for something entirely different and definitely nostalgic and maybe relevant in view of today's troubles !!.....The sentiment of the people of the 30's & 40's when England was at war surely will once again with the present generation and with the rest of the world that is suffering at this moment in time come together.. and as the old Btitish Saying goes "Keep A Stiff Upper Lip" !!....The songs on this L/P may be dated but some and most of the sentiment is still valid for todays time !!...and the last track is a cracker !!!

Swingin' Down Yonder is the first full-length, 12-inch album recorded by Dean Martin for Capitol Records during three sessions in September and October 1954 and February 1955. According to the original sleeve notes, all the songs have a "common geographical root: the American South." In 1963, Capitol Records re-released Swingin' Down Yonder under the titled Southern Style.

George Shearing & Dakota Staton

In the Night is a 1958 album by the jazz pianist George Shearing and the singer Dakota Staton. A quintet accompanies the pair. Staton sings on six tracks; the rest are instrumentals.

With its progressive-leaning jazz and modernist blues vocals, In the Night was the prototype for the piano-vocals collaboration record that George Shearing would remake with Peggy Lee, Nat King Cole, and Nancy Wilson while at Capitol (and many others afterwards). In July 1957, just after Dakota Staton's immense success with "The Late, Late Show," Capitol recorded two of its biggest jazz stars together for what would turn out to be one of the finest teamings in either's career...In the Night Review by John Bush From ALLMusic
